A former Banbury nightclub is now going to be part of a growing nursery in the town.

Childfirst Nursery currently run their business in the former Banbury Museum building on Horsefair and from the beginning of next month they will expand their premises into the larger building next door, which was formerly Phoebus Nightclub.

Amy Ames, nursery manager at Childfirst, said: “We have been looking for a bigger space for some time so we could do more with the children and when we saw this building for sale it was an opportunity that we could not miss. Everyone is really excited as it is the start of a new chapter for us all.

“It was a church and a nightclub previously but we have committed ourselves here for the next 15 years so it is nice that it will serve its purpose and people can see it will not be changing again.”

Building work is expected to begin later this month where a wall will be knocked down between the nursery’s current base and the former nightclub.

The nursery will continue to operate from their current premises and have got big plans for their new area including different areas for the children to explore.

Mrs Ames added: “All staff have been involved right from the beginning and are all really excited for the future.”
