South Northants is the fourth best rural area to live in the UK, according to the latest Halifax Rural Areas Quality of Life Survey.
This is the second year the district has made the top ten. It is also the second best in the East Midlands.
South Northants came ninth in 2014 and 22nd in 2012. The survey looks at various issues including health and life expectancy, crime rate, weather, employment, school results, broadband access and personal wellbeing.
Calvin Bell, director of development at South Northants Council, said: “This is terrific news for the district and reflects the focus South Northants Council has given to our job clubs, Job Match service and Enterprise Club which all help keep unemployment low and employment high. We are also well serviced with good transport connections with a buoyant economy, and we have worked hard to provide a good range of services to business which not only provides employment, but encourages new business into the district.”
West Oxon has moved 27 places up to 13th while Cherwell is in 41st place.
