Calls of “He’s behind you!” reverberated around Banbury Storagebase this week when customers were given a surprise sneak preview of a local pantomime company’s rendition of Dick Whittington.
The Panto Bus is a Banbury-based pantomime touring company and celebrated its third anniversary and a new partnership with Storagebase today (Friday) when characters from its new Dick Whittington show flash mobbed customers at the giant self-storage unit.
The theatre company stores all of its stage sets, costumes and sound equipment in a 200sqft unit at Storagebase in Jugglers Close.
Keith Broome, Banbury Storagebase manager, said: “Our customers are normally welcomed at their units by me and a cup of tea - not a pantomime dame or man-sized cat!
“But everyone really got into the spirit of things, with plenty of booing, cheering and shouts of ‘Oh yes she is’.”
Families who missed the impromptu performance will have another chance to see Dick Whittington by The Panto Bus at Middleton Cheney Sports and Social Club on Sunday December 20. Tickets cost £5 and are available from thepantobus.com.
