DEDDINGTON UPDATE: Police release details of man they want to speak to

Thames Valley Police have released a description of a man they would like to speak to as part of their investigation into a report of rape in Deddington.

The man was seen with the victim, a 25-year-old woman, in the vicinity of St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Church Street on the evening of Saturday, June 20 into Sunday, June 21.

He is white, slim, about 6ft 1ins or 6ft 2ins, with blonde hair. He was wearing a white polo shirt.

The woman was found in the churchyard of the church at 12.20am by police on Sunday.

Det Sgt Richard Pickering of Force CID, investigating officer based at Banbury Police Station, said: “I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact police immediately on 101.

“I would particularly speak to anyone who recognises the description of the man who was seen with the victim before she was found in the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul Church, Church Street, just after midnight on Sunday.

“We are carrying out a thorough investigation into the incident; we have conducted CCTV inquiries as well as extra patrols in the village.
