Thames Valley Police’s LPA commander for Cherwell and West Oxfordshire has said extra patrols will be in Deddington today (Monday) following the serious sexual assault in the village yesterday (Sunday).

Police have now confirmed the incident as rape and are appealing for more information after a 25-year-old woman was found in the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul’s Church at about 12.20am.

Superintendent Kath Lowe said: “Extra patrols will be in Deddington to reassure the local community after this distressing incident.

“I would like to thank everyone for their co-operation as the investigation continues and I would appeal to anyone who has any information to talk to officers in the village of call Thames Valley Police on 101.”
