Thames Valley Police have said they have now ended their investigation into an allegation that a woman had been raped in a churchyard in Deddington earlier this year.

Officers were first called to St Peter and St Paul’s Church located in Church Street in the early hours of June 21 where they found the 25-year-old victim.

The incident happened hours after the village’s popular music festival and the news shocked villagers and members of the quiet community.

Police made an appeal
for witnesses and more information after the incident, which led to extra patrols in the area to reassure concerned residents.

But four months since the incident first took place, Thames Valley Police said yesterday (Wednesday) that the investigation was now closed.

A statement said: “Following a full investigation police have concluded that no offence took place and the case is now closed.”
