Woman arrested in connection to Banbury area death investigation released from custody

A woman arrested in connection with a death investigation in a village near Banbury was released from custody late last night, Thursday June 10.

Police had arrested a 65-year-old woman on suspicion of murder in connection to the death of man in the village of Middleton Cheney. She was released with no further action late last night.

A major police investigation was launched following the incident, which happened Wednesday June 9, in Salmon Lane, Middleton Cheney.

The incident unfolded when firefighters with the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service were called around 3.35pm Wednesday to reports of a fire in Salmon Lane. Upon arrival firefighters found a shed alight, and after the flames were put out the body of a man was discovered inside. Police arrested the woman on suspicion of murder later in the same day.

As part of the investigation, fire scene investigators and detectives are asking anyone with video footage to send it in, to help establish the cause and progression of the fire.
