Update - Police arrest woman in case of pedestrian being hit by car at Sainsbury's Banbury store

Police have bailed a 60-year-old woman in connection with an incident in which a female shopper was hit by a car at Banbury's Sainsbury store car park.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said officers attended Sainsbury’s supermarket in Oxford Road, Banbury on Saturday at around 2.50pm.

It followed reports that incidents of shoplifting and an assault on a man aged in his twenties had occurred. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

It was also reported that a car was in collision with a woman aged in her forties, causing her injuries requiring hospital treatment.

"A 60-year-old woman from Adderbury, Oxfordshire, has been arrested on suspicion of theft, assault and driving a motor vehicle dangerously," the spokesman said.

"She has been released on police bail until March 30."
