Third man arrested in drugs-related air rifle shooting in Banbury

Police made the three arrests after officers with TVP Cherwell Response Team2 responded to an incident in Calthorpe Street, Banbury around 12.05pm yesterday afternoon.

Officers responded to reports that a man had been shot by an air rifle.

The victim, a man in his 50s, received hospital treatment.

The Banbury Guardian has been able to confirm police have arrested two Banbury men and an Oxford man in connection to the drugs-related shooting and assault incident.

Police arrested two 24-year-old men, both from Banbury, on suspicion of assaulting a person thereby occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage, firing an air weapon beyond premises and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B, namely Cannabis.

A third man, a 25-year-old from Oxford, was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting a person thereby occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage, firing an air weapon beyond premises and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B, namely Cannabis.

All three men have been released on bail.

Police searched a house during the incident and found an offensive weapon and a 'large quantity.'
