Shoppers cheer as heroic worker chases down bag snatcher in Banbury town centre

At about 12.30pm today (Wednesday August 17) a Poundland employee, who can not be named due to company policy, went above and beyond the call of duty by chasing after a thief who had snatched a customer’s shopping bag.

The employee showed shades of Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt as she fearlessly chased the bag snatcher down Malthouse Walk and across Bridge Street roundabout before the desperate thief finally gave in and handed the stolen property back to the shopworker.

Amazed onlookers applauded the courageous scenes, while the shopworker wasted no time in getting back to her work.

It was reported that the thief was well known to the staff at Poundland and been part of a gang that had attempted four bag snatchings in the five minutes leading up to the shopworker’s heroic efforts.

Security staff working in the town centre were informed of the thief’s identity.
