Quick-thinking security staff at Castle Quay shopping centre helped police arrest a man who was reportedly carrying a knife in Banbury town centre.

A man was spotted in possession of a kitchen knife on the High Street, Banbury, today (Friday August).

Thames Valley Police said: "Many thanks to security staff from Castle Quay, Banbury for their eagle eyed spot of a male in possession of a kitchen knife on the High Street, Banbury.

A man was spotted in possession of a kitchen knife on the High Street, Banbury, today (Friday August).

"Their quick response allowed us to promptly detain the male and recover the knife.

"A 57 year old male from Banbury is now in custody."
