Police re-arrest man in connection to 16 Banbury town centre burglaries

Officers with Thames Valley Police have released an update in the investigation of a spate of burglaries at businesses in the Banbury town centre.

The 33 year old man recently arrested in connection to Banbury town centre burglaries has today, Tuesday December 15, been further arrested. He has now been arrested in connection to 16 town centre burglaries.

The suspect has been recalled to prison and will remain in HMP as the investigation continues.

Sgt Sarah Nash, with the TVP Banbury Problem Solving Team, said: "We are very grateful for the victim’s and witnesses’ support in helping us obtain the evidence needed in order for us to identify our suspect.

"The investigation is not yet finalised and so we will continue to follow all available lines of enquiry in the hope of securing charges against the offender.

"We recognise the huge impact this has had on local businesses and encourage anybody with any further information to contact us."

A dozen businesses have been targeted by burglars in the town centre within the last month to six weeks.

The latest two burglaries occurred earlier this month after police confirmed the Cafe Nero coffee shop in the High Street and a salon in Church Lane were burgled either last night, Friday December 4 or during the early morning hours of today, Saturday December 5.

Another 10 businesses were burgled last month, including two charity shops.
