Thames Valley Police are looking for witnesses following a public order incident in Banbury.

The incident happened after the the victim, a man in his 20s, left the Robert Dyas store on the High Street and was approached by two men. It occurred around 11.10am on Monday January 4.

The victim ran in the opposite direction, however and tripped over. One of the men chased him and whilst the victim was on the floor, slashed the victim’s hand with a knife.

The two men were then confronted by another man who had a knife. They chased this man into the Tesco store and then assaulted him.

The victim required hospital treatment for the wound he suffered to his had, but has since been discharged.

A 22-year-old man and a 55-year-old man, both from Banbury, were arrested on suspicion of affray and have been released on police bail.

Investigating officer, PC Tony Francis, based at Banbury police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information about what happened, to please get in touch.

“I believe there were a number of people in the Tesco store at the time of this incident who would have seen what happened and I would ask them to please make contact with us as you may have important information relating to our investigation.
