Police make arrest in assault on 15-year-old girl in Banbury

Police have made an arrest in the assault on a 15-year-old girl in Banbury.

The incident happened after the offender hit the girl in the face and pushed her over before opening a can of Coke and pouring it over her.

The incident occurred at the entrance to Princess Diana Park near to Bradley Arcade at around midday on Friday January 29.

The victim suffered cuts to her hands and knees from the fall, but did not require hospital treatment.

Thames Valley Police arrested a 16-year-old boy from Banbury on suspicion of assault in connection to the incident. He has been released on police bail.

Police are still looking for witnesses to the assault.

Investigating officer PC James Peachey, based at Banbury police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone who was near the entrance to the park at the time of the incident and may have seen something that will help the investigation.

“Anyone who has information should contact the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, or make a report online, quoting the reference 43210039588.
