Police make arrest for murder in connection to fire in village near Banbury

Northamptonshire Police have arrested a 65-year-old woman on suspicion of murder in connection to a fire in the village of Middleton Cheney yesterday, Wednesday June 9.

Northamptonshire Police have launched a major investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in the South Northamptonshire village of Middleton Cheney.

Firefighters with the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service were called around 3.35pm yesterday, Wednesday June 9, to reports of a fire in Salmon Lane, Middleton Cheney.

Upon arrival firefighters found a shed alight, and after the flames were put out the body of a man was discovered inside.

As part of the police investigation a 65-year-old woman was arrested last night, Wednesday June 9, on suspicion of murder.

She remains in police custody this morning, Thursday June 10.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 regarding incident number 21000319651.
