Police issue warning to Banbury area residents after doorstep scam reported

Officers from the TVP Cherwell made the following statement through a post on Facebook: "A male, approximately 40-50 years old, has today (Wednesday May 20) been offering to spray weed killer on residents' paths in the Broughton area of Banbury and asking for money afterwards.

"This male claimed to be from the council and was driving a flatbed lorry with bins on the back."

Police have called the incident a 'scam.'

Police encourage residents not to accept services from anyone offering them on the doorstep.

Poilice also urge people to be vigilant, particularly elderly and vulnerable neighbours.

Anyone with information relating to this incident and the man involved should call 101 or use our online webform to report.
