Police arrested a 29-year-old man from Banbury was arrested yesterday ( Tuesday May 25), and remains in police custody.

The arrest is in connection with an incident on April 15 when a man who was under arrest on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs absconded from the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Police have confirmed as a result they are no longer looking for Lewis Abubakar, aged 29, who was wanted by police for escape from custody last month at Horton General Hospital.

Following Abubakar’s arrest, he stated he had a wrist injury and was taken to the Horton General Hospital in Banbury for treatment.

Abubaker fled from the A&E department of the hospital in the early morning hours of Thursday morning April 15.

He was arrested in Abingdon for escaping from lawful custody, breach of bail and criminal damage.
