Police appeal launched after woman in her 60s has mobile phone snatched from her on Banbury street

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a theft of a mobile phone from a woman in her 60s in Banbury.

The theft happened between 8.45 and 9.15pm on Tuesday March 17 as the victim, a woman in her 60s, was walking past St Paul’s Church on Warwick Road and using her phone when she noticed a man walking towards her.

The man grabbed her mobile phone from her hand and ran away in the direction of the petrol station.

The offender is described as a black man in his 20s, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall and of a slim build. He was wearing a dark colour puffa-style jacket and dark blue trousers. He may also have been wearing gloves.

Investigating officer PC Samantha Devlin, based at Banbury police station, said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim and I am appealing to anyone with information to come forward."
