Man jailed for sexually abusing a girl in Oxfordshire

Brian Clargo, aged 57, of Mablethorpe, has been given a 12-year sentence for abusing his victim during the 1990s and 2000s.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Lucy McDonagh, of the Thames Valley Police Child Abuse Investigation Unit, received a Judge’s Commendation for her outstanding work on the case.

The judge praised the victim for her bravery in reporting the offences, supporting the investigation and giving evidence during the trial.

Thames Valley Police said: "This case shows that Thames Valley Police will support victims when they feel ready to contact the police, no matter when the offences took place.

"We have specially trained officers who are experts in investigating sexual offences. They will support and listen to you.
