Man injured during Banbury assault involving four men with knives

Thames Valley Police have arrested four people, including two teenagers in connection to an assault near Banbury involving four men with knives.

The incident occurred around 1.50pm on Thursday June 11 in The Rydes, Bodicote, when the two victims, a teenage boy and a man in his forties, were involved in an altercation with a group of four men with knives.

One of the victims, the man in his forties, suffered an arm injury and was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.

A phone was stolen during the incident.

Investigating officer, PC Kelly Williams, based at Banbury police station, said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened or who has any information about the incident to please come forward.

“I believe there were two people walking by just seconds before the assault happened, therefore I would urge these individuals to get in touch as you may have information that could assist with the investigation.

“Furthermore, I would ask anyone with a dash-cam or personal CCTV to check any footage in case it may have captured what happened."

Police have arrested people in connection to the assault, including two 16-year-old boys.

A 22-year-old man from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent, common assault, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and theft from the person of another.

A 20-year-old man from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a controlled drug of class B.

A 16-year-old boy from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, theft and assault by beating.

A 16-year-old boy from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, theft, common assault, possession of a controlled drug of class A and possession of a controlled drug of class B.

All four suspects have been released on bail.
