Man escapes would-be thieves in Banbury incident

A man escaped two would-be thieves, including one believed to be armed with a knife during an incident in Banbury over the weekend.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, was approached by two men in the alleyway between Nursery Drive and Southam Road, Banbury, at around 2am on Saturday morning July 4.

One of the men demanded the victim hand his phone to him.

The offenders are described as two slim white men, one around 6 feet tall and the other around 5 foot 6 inches tall, both aged in their late teens to early 20s.

It was reported that one of the offenders may have been carrying a knife.

They were both wearing dark clothing with hoods up.

The victim, who reached out to the Banbury Guardian but asked to remain anonymous for his own safety, managed to escape after he 'barged' one of his would-be assailants into a nearby railing allowing him to make his escape and run away.

The victim was on his way to work at a local supermarket in town.

No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.
