Gunman in Banbury sparks armed police operation
Armed police helped search for a man with a firearm in Banbury last night (Sunday, April 21).
Police were called to Ruscote Avenue at 7.45pm after a report that man had a firearm.
Searches were conducted at the scene but no man was located with a firearm, a police spokesman said.Rumours circulating on social media that a male was shot are not true, he added.
Reports suggest the man was seen in several locations around the town, including Ruscote Park and Grimsbury, while armed officers were spotted in numerous places too.
