Do you recognise this man? Police appeal for help following Banbury theft

At around 7.15pm on Friday, March 6 the victim, a 57-year-old woman was walking along the Kingsway towards the entrance of Leigh Grove when she was approached by an unknown man asking her for a cigarette. The victim did not have a cigarette so the man asked for a pound.

The victim opened her bag to give him a pound and the man snatched the bag from her arm and ran off in the direction of Beargarden Road.

The bag and its contents were stolen including keys, cash and a passport.

The offender is described as a white man, around 5ft 10ins tall, and slim. He was wearing a black bomber jacket, blue wash denim jeans and white trainers.

Investigating officer PC Amy Boughton based at Banbury police station said: “I am appealing for any witnesses of this incident, or anyone who saw a man matching the e-fit and description in the area at the time to get in touch.
