Banbury’s Park Rangers have been targeted by thieves who broke through numerous security measures to steal expensive equipment.
Thieves cut two high strength padlocks, then two more padlocks to get into a metal cage that contained the equipment housed in the Community Garden storage building in Banbury’s People Park.
A security light was also disabled during the theft on Thursday, June 21.
Power tools stolen included a chain saw, disc cutter, leaf blower, hedge cutter and the cost of replacement was approximately £5,000.
Mike Hall, Banbury’s recreation and amenities manager, said: “The thieves clearly knew what they were doing and came prepared.
“We have now installed burglar alarms at the site and installed CCTV equipment to prevent a reoccurrence of the break-in.”
