A man alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman on a bus has been arrested.

Thames Valley Police have arrested a 67-year-old man from Banbury in connection with a sexual assault committed last month.

The incident happened on Tuesday May 17 on a bus travelling along Lower Cherwell Street and Bridge Street in Banbury between about 11.40am and noon.

The victim, a woman aged in her 60s, was sexually assaulted while on the B5 Stagecoach by a male passenger.

The offender sat himself next to her and pressed up against her. Upon arriving at the town centre the victim tried to exit the bus and was once again touched inappropriately by the offender.

The man arrested has been released on police bail until June 27.
