Hope and Help Together are planning a large aid supply delivery at the beginning of next month, when 11 volunteers will take four 4x4s and two vans full of supplies to those that need them the most in Ukraine.

The organisation has made 33 deliveries of aid supplies to Ukraine since the war escalated in February of this year, this equates to around 280 tonnes of goods delivered both to Ukraine and Poland where many refugees are situated.

Most of the aid supply trucks are filled with goods such as food, toiletries, first aid supplies, clothes, toys for children and household items to either support those that are making a new life away from Ukraine or those that are planning to return to their country.

Alongside the six vehicles full of goods, the organisation plans to donate the 4x4s and one of the vans to a Ukrainian hospital that needs them.

Hope and Help Together coordinator Magdalena Kwiecińska, said: “I’m in contact with people in Ukraine every day, at the moment they feel very forgotten. I know people have helped a lot and they have to live their lives but people in Ukraine really need our help now, the war is still ongoing and people are still dying and they are still in need.

"There are a lot of orphans over there which have lost their parents during the war and they have no sense of security and they really need our help. It’s very hard to find food over there, and now they have no fuel so that is causing a lot of problems for the Ukrainian people.

"We will deliver only to the people that need the most help, like orphanages, hospitals, nuns that are caring for people and soldiers who need first aid supplies and food they always need food!”

The group has also set up a hub meeting place for Ukrainian refugees at the site of the old Debenhams store in Castle Quay shopping centre which caters to around 100 people currently.
