Former Cherwell District Councillor Paul O’Sullivan, who represented Deddington for ten years, has died.
Mr O’Sullivan served as a Conservative councillor from 1994 until his retirement in 2014, and died on December 9.
During this time at the council the main committees he served on were Standards, Appeals and Licensing.
He was appointed Member Champion for Older People in December 2012 when this role was created and stayed in the role until he retired as a councillor in 2014.
His main aim in this role was preventing loneliness and isolation and he remained dedicated to creating opportunities for Cherwell’s older residents and helping them thrive in later life.
Mr O’Sullivan also represented Cherwell District Council on many Age UK Oxfordshire boards.
Councillor Barry Wood, leader of Cherwell District Council, said: “Paul was a true community councillor and a thoroughly nice man to go with it. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”
