Chiltern Railways is on top of the world after being named best train operator at the first ever Independent Travel Awards
The company outshone a range of other rail providers at home and abroad.
This included both busy commuter and luxury heritage operators such as Argentinian Railways, Trenitalia, Eurostar, Virgin Trains, Venice Simplon-Orient Express and Great Western Railway’s Night Riviera.
The awards were voted for by the public which led to a shortlist from which a panel of ten expert judges selected the winners.
Chiltern Railways, Managing Director, Rob Brighouse, said: “Winning this award is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the entire Chiltern Railways team who work tirelessly to deliver excellent customer service to our customers. It means so much that the initial nomination came from our passengers.”
The next big step for the company is to launch a new route between Oxford Parkway and London Marylebone on October 26. The project represents an investment of £130 million for the business.
