Two pupils at St Leonards School saw their fishy creations made real after they won a challenge to design a fish finger.

Selection Matters and local firm Newly Weds Foods returned to the school to reveal the winners of the challenge they had set the children of Year 2 on their last visit.

As well as a certificate and gift voucher the winners’ fish finger designs were made into real products.

The winning entries were a pizza fish finger and one that looked and tasted like the sea.

John Butcher, plant manager of Newlyweds Foods said: “The children had great fun learning and playing with all the ingredients, although I am not sure what the parents thought about collecting their ‘flour coated’ children at the end of the day.”
