Central M40 development approved

PLANS to build a warehousing development the size of 28 football pitches on land to the south of Overthorpe Road in Banbury, were given the green light by Cherwell Distrit Council’s planning committee yesterday (Thursday).

After raising concerns about the impact of the development on traffic congestion and calling on the developers to build a relief road to ease the problem, councillors approved the scheme subject to conditions.

The future of the scheme could however depend on the outcome of archaeological surveys conducted by English Heritage after the site of the First World War shell filling factory to the east of the proposed development was declared a scheduled monument.
