Celebrate Father’s Dayby visiting a display of vintage transport vehicles on the driveway at Upton House and Gardens. The Vintage Transport event on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21 will showcase some of the vehicles that were used, in what Winston Churchill described as “Their Finest Hour”, when Britain and her Empire entered World War Two.
These civilian and industrial vehicles serve as a fitting backdrop for Upton House and Gardens which has been transported back to the 1940s when the Bearsted family moved out and their merchant bank and staff moved in for the duration of World War Two. Victoria Wright, events and marketing manager said: “Life on an estate such as Upton relied upon vehicles to provide supplies and communication with the rest of the country during the war. Finding out more about the part they played in 1940s will be a fascinating experience set in a beautiful location.”
