Broughton Castle is to be one of the stunning locations for the 2015 series of Antiques Roadshow.
The historic castle will be turned over to the popular antiques valuation programme on Sunday, June 21.
Presenter Fiona Bruce will front the roadshow in which local residents are invited to take along their old, interesting and possibly valuable collectables on which the Antiques Roadshow’s expert team will give their professional opinion.
“People are welcome to bring items along. If they want to bring more than one we suggest they bring the ones they’re most keen to find out about,” said Roadshow spokesman Olwen Gillespie.
“Due to the volume of people at each Roadshow, an expert can only spend a certain amount of time with each visitor. If you bring too many items it can hold up the queues and on busy days an expert may ask you to select only three or four items for appraisal.”
Visitors are advised to pack items with great care and carry them in something sturdy to avoid breakages.
For large items a clear photograph should be taken instead, with close-up images of important details.
“It’s never the same as seeing the item in the flesh but it’s a popular choice when it comes to furniture. Alternatively, if we are contacted well in advance (more than a week prior) we could add them to our furniture round in which we transport some items to the venue,” said Ms Gillespie.
