Businesses put the kettle on for hospice

The kettle was boiling across Banburyshire last week as many had a cuppa to support Katharine House Hospice.

The charity held their Care for a Cuppa week between March 6 and 13 and loyal supporters held events in Banbury, Brackley and the surrounding villages including Sibford Gower, Tadmarton, Bloxham and King’s Sutton.

Banbury funeral directors Edd Frost and Daughters held an event last Tuesday at Stanbridge House in Ruskin Road where they were also paid a visit by Katharine House Hospice’s new chief executive Angharad Orchard.

Mr Frost, whose business is on Horton View, said: “Over the last 25 years the hospice and it’s staff have played such a huge part within our local community and I’m sure we all know of a family member, someone close or friend that has recieved the outstanding care and support the staff and volunteers give.”

Other places hosting coffee mornings were the Lampet Arms in Tadmarton, Greyhound pub in Brackley and Chipping Norton’s Co-op.

Moira Logie, head of fundraising at Katharine House Hospice, said the campaign hopes to raise £9,000, which is the cost of running the hospice for a day.

She added:“This format really works for our supporters as it is flexible to be the kind of short fundraising event that they want to organise.”
