The first store at the new Banbury Gateway Retail Park has finally opened its door to the public today (Thursday).

Outfit, which stocks a range of fashion from Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Wallis, Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Topman, is the first shop to open and staff gave out £20 worth of vouchers to the first 50 customers.

Seven other retailers are set to open on October 28, inclduding River Island, Poundland, Carphone Warehouse, EE and Mountain Warehouse.

Marks & Spencer will open its 100,000 sq ft store the day after on October 29 with Fat Face, Ed’s Easy-Diner and Primark set to welcome customers in November. Next and New Look will open in spring next year.

Hannah Milne, head of The Crown Estate’s regional portfolio, said: “Banbury Gateway will be a truly best-in-class shopping destination, boasting a fantastic line-up of leading retail brands including M&S, Primark, River Island, Fat Face and food outlets such as McDonald’s and Ed’s Easy Diner. We are looking forward to welcoming shoppers from Banbury and the surrounding area.”

Staff at Outfit added that although they are the only shop trading at the development, they have enjoyed a very successful day.

Banbury Gateway is located off Junction 11 of M40 and has 600 free car parking spaces.
