Bus services between Banbury and Stratford-upon-Avon to change from next week

Several bus services in and around Banbury are to be changed following a review.

From this Sunday, October 23, services 50A, 268, 269, 270 and X70 will be withdrawn and replaced with 3, 3W, 6, 7 and X7 services.

Johnsons Excelbus are replacing the 268, 269 and 270 services with new 6, 7, and X7 services.

The new 6 service will operate the current 269 route but will divert to include the village of Tysoe. The new 7 service will replace the 268 and 270 services with a new 16.10 departure from Banbury. These new services will operate via Stratford Station Interchange.

The new X7 service will replace the X70 and 270 service and operate an express service throughout the day between Stratford and Banbury via Ettington and Upton House, with a new bus stop directly outside the property. The new 3 and 3W services will operate hourly between Stratford Park and Ride and Shipston-on-Stour with extensions to Banbury (3) and Whichford (3W) throughout the day and one journey a day to Halford.

A bus roadshow is being held on October 28, at Cornhill Market Place, in Banbury where passengers can pick up new timetables and talk to the bus teams about the changes.

Peter Johnson, operations director at Johnsons Excelbus said: “After listening to passenger feedback and reviewing the service times and routes, changes have been made to ensure a quicker, more efficient routes from Banbury to Stratford-upon-Avon. We have invested in an additional two new single decker buses to serve our routes as part of our ongoing investment to improve our bus fleet and offer our high levels of passenger comfort.”
