Burglars steal cash after breaking into Banbury shop

Burglars stole cash after breaking into a shop in Banbury during the small hours of this morning (Wednesday, April 4).

Four offenders forced entry to the Martin McColl's store on Orchard Way just before 4am and stole a quantity of cash.

It is believed the offenders used a vehicle to arrive at and flee the scene.

A thorough investigation is underway and CCTV is being reviewed, a Thames Valley Police spokesman said.

A McColl’s spokesman said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our employees is of utmost importance.

"This incident happened when the store was closed and no colleagues were thankfully hurt.

"We are working closely with the relevant authorities in response to this incident.”

This is the latest in a series of Banbury shops being targeted by criminals with Co-op on Chatsworth Drive and Spar in Bodicote were recent victims.
