Armed with litter grabbers and bin bags, the Easington Brownies joined forces with housing provider Sanctuary Housing to take part in the Big Tidy Up, collecting 96kg of litter at Crown Walk and around the railway station.

As the group mucked in to clean up the area and collect rubbish from the streets, MP Victoria Prentis visited to show her support and see how they were getting on.

Mrs Prentis said: “Litter has become something of an obsession for me so I was really pleased to join the Big Tidy Up at the weekend. Everyone who came along did a brilliant job to clean up our area.

“I was really impressed to see the level of community spirit and morale, with so many people coming together to make a positive change in their neighbourhood. A big thanks to all those involved.”
