BREAKING: RMT calls off strike action

A strike which threatened to bring rail services “to a standstill” this weekend has been cancelled.

Earlier this afternoon the TSSA union called off its planned 24-hour strike, which was set to take place through Monday and Tuesday.

Now fellow union the RMT has also cancelled its strike.

It is not yet clear what this will mean for trains over the bank holiday.

However the RMT had previously claimed that its planned action would bring trains “to a standstill” with services across the UK being cancelled on Tuesday (May 26) immediately following the bank holiday.

More will appear on this story shortly.
