BREAKING: Cyclist dies following collision in Banbury

A man in his twenties has died following a collision between a pedal cyclist and a heavy goods vehicle in Banbury yesterday (Wednesday).

Police confirmed the news this morning (Thursday) after the incident at about 12.45pm at the Hennef Way roundabout which involved a blue Scania heavy goods vehicle.

Emergency services were called to the scene and as a result several main roads in Banbury were congested with traffic for most of the day, with the carriageway of junction 11 of the M40 also being temporarily closed.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Collier, from the Roads Policing Joint Operations Unit, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either the cyclist or the heavy goods vehicle travelling prior to the collision.”

Thames Valley Police is continuing to investigate the incident and anyone with information which could assist the investigation is asked to call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101 quoting URN 563 4/11.
