On Thursday, March 24, staff at the store on the Banbury Cross Retail Park will be dressing in traffic light colours and want children to join them and show off their best red, amber and green outfits during the store’s Beep Beep! Day - part of the charity’s national campaign to help save little lives on our roads.

As a thank you, children who come into store in their costumes will also get 15 per cent off their shoe purchase.

Kate Witwicki, store manager at Brantano in Banbury said: “The Beep Beep! Day campaign is a great way to raise awareness and engage with children about the importance of road safety.

“We will all be getting involved and getting our best traffic light outfits on so it will certainly be a bright day in store!

“At Brantano, we are already committed to providing a service that looks after children’s foot health, and we are keen to promote and encourage the health and environmental benefits of walking to school.

“This activity helps us to raise awareness of the importance of correctly fitting shoes for children’s foot health but also to reinforce messages about the dangers of roads and the importance of safe road use to both children and parents.”

With two-thirds of trips in the UK being made by car, including four in 10 trips of less than two miles, Brake is committed to reducing the number of cars on the road by encouraging short trips, such as the school run, to be made on foot.

Brake is a national road safety charity that exists to stop the needless deaths and serious injuries that happen on roads every day, making streets and communities safer for everyone.

The Beep Beep! Day campaign helps raise vital funds for the charity’s work, with each Brantano staff member taking part, both in store and at head office, donating £1.

It is aimed to help young children begin to learn the basics of road safety through fun activities as well as raise awareness among parents and the wider community about protecting children on the roads.
