Francesca Long first attracted local attention with success in Brackley’s Got Talent, but this month she released the fundraising single ‘Hero of Mine’ on Amazon and iTunes.

The Magdelen College School student wrote the song after being asked to perform at a Help for Heroes fundraising event.

Afterwards she was contacted by an army wife who was touched by the song.

She said: “From this I decided to record it and release it as a charity single to show my support for the whole armed force community, which is something that I had never considered prior to the talent competitions.

“I realised that my song might be able to help and comfort others, especially families that are affected.

“I hope the song makes more people aware of how important this charity really is and how much we should appreciate the men and women who fight for our country.”
