Brackley pupils stay safe with luminous armbands

October has been International Walk to School Month and for the sixth year in a row the campaign has received support from Barratt Homes Northampton which donated the armbands.

The armbands are designed to make the children more visible during the darker winter evenings.

Jane Cartlidge, headteacher at Southfields Primary Academy, said: “We believe walking to school is important and try to encourage as many of our pupils as possible to walk to school in a safe and sensible fashion.

“It is good to see a developer support such a valuable initiative and we really appreciate the donation of these armbands from Barratt Homes.”

Andrew Swindell, managing director for Barratt Homes Northampton said: “Our development of The Brackens is located near to Southfields Primary Academy, so as families move in it makes perfect sense for us to support International Walk to School Month.

“By offering pupils at Southfields Primary Academy a helping hand and donating hi-visibility armbands to all their pupils, they should be encouraged to walk to school and can stay safe as the dark nights draw in.”
