A Brackley headteacher will walk the 30 miles of her morning commute to work to raise money to improve outdoor space at the school.
Rosalyne Peet of Brackley Church of England Junior School lives in Rugby, 32.6 miles away from her workplace by car, a distance she hopes to reduce to 28 miles when she does her sponsored walk on Friday, April 21.
The school has been targeted for the healthy school programme by Northants County Council.
Writing to parents and carers at the school, Mrs Peet said: “In keeping with the theme, I have decided to take part in a sponsored walk to work.”
Mrs Peet will be accompanied by school governor Roger Hiley, who is an experienced walker, to help keep her on the right route.
She aims to arrive before the end of the day so that the school children can witness her complete her journey.
“If I am still in control of my faculties, I plan to deliver a short assembly,” wrote Mrs Peet,
Throughout her training Mrs Peet has kept a blog which can be found at www.bjsoffice.primaryblogger.co.uk
