Bomb disposal unit called to Grimsbury

A BOMB disposal squad has been called to an incident in Middleton Road, Grimsbury, after construction workers uncovered a suspicious chemical reaction in the ground.

Fire crews from Banbury, Thames Valley Police and ambulance crews are currently attending the scene and Tesco Express, The Pepper Pot pub and the Atlantis Fish bar have all been evacuated and closed.

A 100-metre cordon has been put in place and residents are advised to stay in their homes and keep all windows closed. A road closure is also in place around the affected area.

The fizzing, flaming chemical is suspected to be an incendiary device left over from an old First World War munitions factory.
