Bloxham residents may be able to rent an allotment in neighbouring Milton where a patch of plots lies unused

Eager vegetable growers without enough space of their own have been frustrated by a complete lack of plots in their own village. Now an unused area with ten sizeable allotments in Milton may be made available to them.

Bloxham Parish Council chairman, Geoff Mollard, said: “Bloxham used to have allotments but these have long since been built on.New homes being built have no gardens at all and many people would like growing space.

“We tried for years to find suitable space for allotments, appealing to farmers and people with large gardens, but without success.

“I was told about the unused Milton allotments by the chairman of the parish committee and it may be that residents from both villages might want to use one, or even share them as they are very large.”

The rent of the plots is £20 a year. Owned by the Oxford Diocese, they have been left unattended for some time and Mr Mollard is considering ways of clearing them to allow vegetable growing this year.
