Dance students at the Danielle Buick Academy of Theatre Arts danced blindfold to raise money for a fellow pupil who is blind.

Five-year-old Honey Russon, who attends Queensway Primary School, who has septo optic dysplasia, started learning ballet in September.

After just four lessons, she stole hearts at Kings Sutton Scarecrow Festival with her performance as a mermaid.

For the fundraiser, students came to lessons wearing blindfolds and danced for 45 minutes without being able to see. Some, who attend more than one class in a row, danced blindfolded for three hours.

The students, family and friends raised £692 for Honey, beating their £500 target.

Tilly Canning, aged 12, said: “I never realised how hard it would actually be until I danced blindfolded.”

The academy has classes in Grimsbury and Middleton Cheney. Contact Danielle on 07930 680399 or email danielle_buick@live.co.uk
