Children at St Mary’s Playgroup in Banbury were paid a visit by Bertie the Shetland Pony on Wednesday as part of their show and tell.

The pony was brought in with the help of Vicki Clayton and Kiri Brookes at Westcote Ley Livery near Radway, after Vicki’s daughter Bella was asked to bring something to show everyone at the playgroup on Horsefair.

Lorraine Mold, supervisor at St Mary’s Playgroup, said: “The children were very excited to see Bertie and got to brush him and feed him carrots. Some of them were a little scared to start off with but once they got used to him they really enjoyed it.

“We do show and tell once a week where we get the children to talk about something from home. Bella had asked her mum to bring in Bertie as it was her first show and tell herself.

“We use it as an education morning so we were talking about horses and sang the Banbury nursery rhyme Ride a Cock Horse. It was a really nice morning.”

The playgroup offers full/half day session for children aged between two and five. For more information 07930122736 or info@stmarysplaygroupbanbury.org
