Residents of South Northamptonshire have cause to celebrate once again as the district has made it into the top ten most desired places to live in the UK.
A survey by Halifax rated it seventh for the year just gone after the district experienced a low crime rate, relatively good weather and a good broadband access among other measures.
South Northamptonshire has previously reached the top five most desired places to live by coming third in 2013.
However, the latest results showed Winchester in the south east was now third, while South Northamptonshire had dropped to seventh.
The Halifax quality of life survey takes into account a range of measures including residents’ health and life expectancy, overall wellbeing, earnings, employment, crime rates, weather and broadband internet access.
Councillor Dermot Bambidge, portfolio holder for economic development and regeneration, said: “This is the second year in a row that South Northamptonshire has been in the top ten places to live and this news is a great boost for the district at the start of a new year.”
“South Northamptonshire Council has continued to put a lot of work into keeping employment rates high through our Job Club, Job Match service and Enterprise Club. These efforts have been reflected in the ratings.”
As well as improved efforts in the employment sector, South Northamptonshire has blue skies and speedy internet connections to thank for keeping their place in the top ten.
Its success in being placed in the top ten again follows a pattern of health, weather, life expectancy and weekly earnings all being reportedly higher in the South of the country.
