Today, Saturday (May 28) the outdoor pool at Woodgreen Leisure Centre will officially open for the spring season providing alfresco swimming opportunities for people of all ages.

The opening of the pool will coincide with the start of the May half-term holidays giving families the chance to enjoy a week of fun in the sun.

Councillor George Reynolds, Cherwell District Council’s deputy leader, said: “We are delighted to once again be opening the doors to Woodgreen Open Air Pool to welcome the first customers of the year. The pool remains one of the most popular facilities in Banbury and we know it will prove a popular resource for parents and children over the school holidays and weekends.”

In addition to the heated Olympic-sized pool there is a flume, interactive aqua splash area for toddlers and a snack bar serving hot food.

Cllr Reynolds said: “The pool is a great place for people of all ages to come together to enjoy alfresco swimming, fun on the flume or relaxation in the sunshine.

“With the half-term break coinciding with the opening we are looking forward to welcoming the first of hopefully thousands of visits over the coming summer season.”

During the spring timetable the pool will be open for public swimming weekdays from 3pm to 5pm and weekends from 10am to 1pm and then 2pm – 5pm.
