The pub, on Broad Street, was named in May of this year as one of 33 JD Weatherspoon pubs that were to be closed and either sold or let out.

Estate agents for the company were instructed to let or sell 45 pubs either as individual sales or in groups, 12 had been put up for sale last year.

A spokesman on behalf of the joint agents said the Fleur-de-Lis and the chain’s other pubs now on the market represent a ‘rare’ and potentially profitable opportunity for would-be buyers.

A spokesperson for JD Weatherspoon says a deal to sell the premises to Stonegate Pub Company will be finalised on Wednesday, 23 November and all staff will transfer to the new owners.

Whilst Stonegate operate 660 pubs across the UK, the acquisition of the Fleur-de-Lis will be their only pub in Banbury.
